Description

Student Eamonn McCann, wearing a CND badge, is interviewed by Jimmy Robinson, after he was expelled from Queen’s University. He had been found guilty of criminal action. Although McCann himself has said he was expelled for “alcoholic rascality”, in stealing wine after a dinner, he felt it was his involvement in CND and various civil rights protests that rankled the establishment in Queen’s. At Queen’s, he had joined the Labour group there and started on a path of radical policial activity that continues today.

Notes

Eamonn McCann (born 10 March 1943) is an Irish politician, journalist, political activist and councillor from Derry, Northern Ireland. He has been involved political activity all his adult life. As a young man he was one of the original organisers of the Derry Housing Action Committee (DHAC), a radical campaign group focusing on access to social housing. He has continued taking a radical stance in politics.
